Bicycle Therapy has been a staple in the Philadelphia cycling community since the early 90s. A great local bike shop that has award-winning service, a friendly staff and tons of great products to choose from is hard to find. Bicycle Therapy's previous web site was provided by a bicycle industry template-based company. The site had limited functionality, limited template designs, and came with a big monthly price tag.

For Bicycle Therapy's new site they wanted a site that set them a part from their competitors; most of the local bike shops at the time used the same template-based web service company.

The new site design focused on branding Bicycle Therapy as a more professional bicycle shop. Everything from the product images to team photos needed an overhaul. The client also wanted to provide their customers with useful cycling-related information without sending intrusive emails. With that in mind, RSS feeds were implemented to deliver news, product releases, and announcements. The site also provides a local ride listings RSS feed, which lists group cycling rides in the Philadelphia area with their times and meeting places. Customers can submit a ride via the web site to have their ride listed in the feed.

Everything on BicycleTherapy.com can be updated via the custom-built content management system. The client wanted an easy, user-friendly way to update the site. The CMS was developed with that in mind. The navigation for the CMS is very similar to the web site navigation; an employee can easily find the section or item they would like to update. The new system was also built with user privileges to allow certain employees full access, while limiting access for others. A comprehensive help section was also developed to guide any new or existing employee through any process of managing the system.

The CMS is equipped with: easy-to-use forms for content editing, TinyMCE WYSIWYG text editor for easy text formatting, automated RSS feed publishing, image manager, image uploader, product featuring, user administration, ad click reports, user feedback reports, and a comprehensive help and support section.

The site was developed using XHTML 1.0 Strict, CSS 2.0, PHP/MySQL.
